Today a whole section of "Salone dell'Arte e del Restauro" (Art and Restauration Showroom) in Florence will be devoted to "Opificio delle Pietre Dure", one of the most important Italian institutions for the research and accomplishment of the restauration of works of art.
It will include conferences about the most important restaurations carried out, such as that on "Porta del Paradiso" by Ghiberti, and about the meaning of institutions in the era of the internet.
Other interesting sections will deal with the problem of the conservation of contemporary art, the restauration of photographic and cinematic analog and digital materials, and the relationship between the job market and the professional expertise.
