Ancient materials...For the future!

It's a dream for any PhD students of Chemistry of Innovative Materials who actually studies archaeo-materials (how many in the world apart myself?): to discover that a pigment already used by the Ancient Egyptian will be used for modern technologies. This is the case for Tina T. Salguero and her group of Chemistry Department of Georgia University, who discovered that Egyptian blue (copper and calcium silicate) can be flaked in "nano-sheets" that emit infrared radiation; this will open the way to researches about a new series of nano-materials that will be used in the telecommunication field and not only.
An important discovery, that will have also the small advantage, among all the others, of helping the rest of the research world to discover archaeometry!
